About Time: The NHL Winter Classic is Coming to Minnesota!

The 2021 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic is coming to Minneapolis according to "Legendary" NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman! Commissioner Bettman had this to say during his announcement at the 2020 Winter Classic, "The Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic is about taking hockey back to its outdoor roots - and there is no better place to celebrate the incredible strength surrounding our game than in Minnesota".

First off, Bettman can fuck off. How does it take 13 years to bring the Winter Classic to Minnesota? Bettman himself said "there is no better place to celebrate the incredible strength surrounding our game than in Minnesota", but if that's the case, why does it take over a decade to bring the Winter Classic to Minnesota? This is the State of Hockey, where tradition and hockey heritage runs deep. Minnesota's team anthem literally summarizes what Bettman wants the Winter Classic to represent:

Anthem Lyrics

We were raised With the stick And a pair of blades On the ice we cut our teeth We took our knocks In the penalty box Our mother was the referee

This sport was here Before we came It will be here when we're gone The game's in our blood And our blood's in the game Lay us down under A frozen pond

We will fight to the end We will stand and defend Our flag flying high and free We were born the child Of the strong and Wild In the State, the State of Hockey

Minnesota is the STATE OF HOCKEY and produces more American NHL talent than any other state, and to be honest this event should have been here years ago.

The 2021 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic will take place on January 1st, 2021, outdoors at Target Field, but no opponent has been announced yet. It seems the front runner is Winnipeg, but Colorado and Chicago also seem to be in the running. More details will be released shortly, including information about all the festivities leading up to the big day!

Also, I know Dallas owns the North Stars name and logo rights, but it'd be a travesty if the Wild don't wear throwback North Stars jerseys...
