Game Recap: 10 And 1! Can You Believe It?
You know, I never thought I would see the Minnesota Golden Gophers go 10-1 within the next 10 years. And here they are! Defying all odds!
En route to their 10th win of the season, they round-house kicked the Northwestern Wildcats into submission, putting up 38 points, 423 total yards and halting Northwestern to only 223 yards.
Did you know in the last two meetings in Evanston against Northwestern, the Gophers were shutout? It was like six years since Minnesota put up any points at Ryan Field or something like that. That's insane!
But I think the better accomplishment in this game is the fact Minnesota reached seven conference wins for the first time EVER! HUUUUUUUGE!
Tanner Morgan came up clutch with four touchdown passes, three of which were caught by Rashod Bateman. And Tyler Johnson had 125 yards receiving with one tuddy. This receiving core just keeps getting better and better every week!
I did feel bad for Northwestern though. They won the West last year and now they are 2-9 (0-8) this season and their stadium looked like a high school football stadium with the amount of fans that showed up. It was embarrassing!
Minnesota took advantage of the situation and got its 10th win! Hallelujah!
I was a little concerned at some points being our defense looked like they gave up some easy yardage to a slow Northwestern offense, but I am thinking there was a not a ton of urgency on their part to make stops since they were up by so much. Next week against Wisconsin, the Gophers defense has to be on of their s$%@!
With a big game looming next week for the Big Ten West, I am relishing in the moment of being 10-1! It feels great!
As you may know, we take on the Wisconsin Badgers next weekend. ESPN Gameday will be here!
That'll be fun!
Row the Boat, Ski-U-Mah, Go Gophers!
