The Wild lost 4-2 to Colorado last Saturday, but it may have been worth it because it gave us the quote of the year.
After starting slow and getting into penalty troubles, Minnesota dug themselves into a pretty big hole. They allowed 2 goals and were being outshot 9-2 in the first 6 minuets of the game. The Wild were able to fight back and tie it up, but a 3rd period goal by Gabriel Landeskog gave Colorado a late lead. Down 3-2 with 45 seconds left in the 3rd period, Kevin Fiala blasted a one-timer off a cross-ice feed. The net looked wide open, and it truly seemed like the Wild were actually going to tie it up. However, Colorado goalie Philipp Grubauer dove across the crease and robbed Fiala. Seconds later Ryan Graves flipped the puck down the ice to make it 4-2 Colorado.
When asked about his late opportunity to tie the game, Fiala replied bluntly by saying: “I couldn’t get it up. I don’t know why”
I feel bad for Fiala, if one of us can't get it up no one cares, but since he's a professional athlete, everyone is ripping into him. ATHLETES ARE HUMAN TOO!
Hopefully Fiala will be able to move on from this traumatic incident, but having something like this happen to you on a national stage wont be easy to recover from.
Everyone at 10,000 Takes is here for you Kevin!
