Philadelphia Flyers Mascot Gritty Accused of Punching a 13-Year-Old
Philadelphia police are currently investigating a claim that Gritty, the Philadelphia Flyers' mascot, punched a 13-year-old boy after taking a photo with him. Chris Greenwell, a Philadelphia Flyers season ticket holder, said his son playfully patted Gritty on his head after taking a photo. In response, Greenwell alleged that Gritty "took a running start" and "punched my son as hard as he could."
These claims are currently being investigated, but let's be honest, this is the most Philly thing ever. I can just imagine a 40-year-old Philadelphian, pissed off that he's 4 weeks behind on child support because he spent his last paycheck on Eagles tickets, taking out all of his problems out on a 13-year-old.
The Flyers have denied any wrongdoing by their mascot and released this statement on the situation:
"We took Mr. Greenwell's allegations seriously and conducted a thorough investigation that found nothing to support this claim"
Although the Flyers organization is maintaining their innocence they are definitely guilty of one thing, creating the scariest looking mascot ever. Seriously, were they even thinking about how children would react to this monster?
Gritty looks like a nightmare come to life.
